About Us

As a group, we strive to share a mutual interest in and enjoyment of the art of calligraphy. We also meet regularly in order to practice the art and techniques of beautiful handwriting. We enjoy gathering and passing on information and ideas regarding calligraphy amongst our members. We endeavor to increase the general public awareness of calligraphy as an art form.

Our Meetings

The Huntington Calligraphers Guild usually meets the third Friday of every month at The Huntington Museum of Art in Huntington, West Virginia on McCoy Road in Studio Two behind the facility. They meet at 6:30 PM.

The Charleston Calligraphers Guild usually meets the second Saturday of each month at Rock Lake Presbyterian Church in South Charleston. They meet at 11 AM.

What We Do

Both guilds have a variety of artists, beginners to advanced, that dearly love this art form. One of their major goals is the "gathering and passing on information and ideas regarding calligraphy amongst our members." That's why at every meeting we will be either looking at lettering, practicing the techniques, or possibly even learning artistic approaches to use along with our lettering.

Benefits

Why become a member? Besides the monthly meetings where we practice and learn new artistic techniques every month, members also receive a discount on workshops that their guild offers. These classes range from local to international teachers and from basic to advanced lettering or artistic approaches to the art of calligraphy.
